In this sense, at a protection and safety level, all the centres are far from other porcine exploitations and they have an adaptation facilities with environmental features, kind of ground and social environment which are similar to the main boar stud ones, where they carry out the training and adaptation of new arrival, coming from external quarantines (about 20km far from the centre)

It is for this reason that, a very strict quality control is developed along the production of seminal doses, so that a series of seminal checking analysis, acrosomia, microbiology and periodic health controls are periodically carried out. In order to carry out this control, the centre has three differential laboratories, a dilution one, placed next to the boar stud ; a production, contrast and semen packagingone, in the central facilities of the group of centres but out of the boar biosafety perimeter; and a third one, placed out of Semen Cardona facilities where we carry out the microbiologic controls of semen and water devoted to the doses production; serology of boars in the centre and repositions, as well as PCR of semen and serums.

From this commitment and the effort of constant improvement, Semen Cardona achieved ISO-9001:2008 certification for the following concepts: Production and distribution of boar semen (maternal and finishing lines) assessment for centres of artificial insemination, seminal analysis (seminal morphoanomalies and acrosomia) and health controls, certification issued by Applus with the number EC-1665/04.

Moreover, Semen Cardona was the first approved centre of artificial insemination all around Spain authorised to export its products abroad. This is owing to the fact that multigenetic CIA accomplishes all European normative, which allowed the approval of facilities and obtaining the certification of CIA authorised for intercommunity commerce and exportation to third countries, being registered in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with the number E-02-05-P and the Section of Centres of Genetic Material Recollection in the Farming Exploitations Register in the Department of Agriculture, Farming and Fishery of Generalitat of Catalonia, with the number B6100001.
