Continuing with the dynamics of expansion of Semen Cardona, a new project of artificial insemination centre was designed in collaboration with the company of genetics UPB Espanya, SA, and the owners of the land where it is placed (Garriga's family)
The centre UPB-Semen, with capacity for 125 males, is located in the municipal district of Navàs, in the province of Barcelona, in an area far from other porcine exploitations and about 5km from the main communication routes. In the design of the CIA, the production of high quality seminal doses with the highest health safety was taken as the first aim. It is for this reason that some work protocols have been developed to accomplish all possible biosafety measures and minimize at most the sources of entry of pathogen agents.
UPB-Semen allocates UPB genetics boars, both in maternal line and finishers. The reproductives always come from farms that accomplish the current health measures and enter the centre after a compulsory stay in the quarantine. Doses from these animals have as main am covering the demand of semen of the company UPB Espanya, SA, and giving service to clients of Semen Cardona, consumers of this genetic doses.
